Where we stand.

Kurichedu sits at a quietly strategic point on the Andhra map — the Mandal headquarters of Kurichedu Mandal in Prakasam district's Kanigiri Revenue Division. Telugu in soul, agrarian in heritage, and now positioned at the edge of one of South India's most ambitious industrial corridors. The name itself comes from the Telugu for "small creek" — fitting for a place fed by canal water and surrounded by some of the state's most fertile farmland.

"Kurichedu has it all — the largest mandal in the Darsi constituency after Darsi itself."

The investment case.

Pillar I

Donakonda Industrial Node

  • Part of the Visakhapatnam–Chennai Industrial Corridor (VCIC) — one of three notified industrial corridors in Andhra Pradesh.
  • APIIC has issued a developer RFP for a 380-acre industrial park inside the Donakonda cluster.
  • Earmarked alongside the proposed Prakasam NIMZ (National Investment & Manufacturing Zone).
  • Foundation stone laid by the Andhra Pradesh government for the corridor build-out.

Pillar II

Donakonda Airport Revival

  • WWII-era airfield built by the British in 1934, on a 136.35-acre site.
  • Operated military and passenger flights until 1985.
  • Revival confirmed; Union Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu has assured development.
  • Additional 310 acres proposed; 1,575-meter runway planned, between Hyderabad and Chennai.

Proposed as passenger and aviation training facility.

Pillar III

Infrastructure That Already Works

  • Kurichedu Railway Station (KCD) on the Guntur–Nadikudi–Nandyal line of South Central Railway — ~15 trains daily, including the Hubballi–Narasapur Amaravati Express.
  • Donakonda–Kurichedu rail segment doubled and commissioned in October 2021; next-phase doubling expected westward.
  • Darsi–Vinukonda State Highway runs through Kurichedu — the spine of the new housing layouts.
  • Nagarjuna Sagar Right Canal (Jawahar Canal) passes through the mandal, watering its fields.

Darsi Road frontage has already crossed ₹45–50 lakh per acre near Sri Venkateswara Dream Homes. Canal-adjacent parcels on the Potlapadu Road hold steady around ₹25 lakh, with most other road-facing land in the mandal opening at ₹20 lakh and above — local estimates, gathering pace.

Darsi Industrial SEZ at Bodhanam Padu.

A notified industrial zone barely six kilometres from Kurichedu — the kind of neighbour that quietly redraws a land map over a single decade.

Indicative figures from local enquiries and listing portals; actual rates vary by survey number, road access, and land use.

Where earth meets capital.

The mandal sits on a stretch of black cotton soil, the deep, moisture-retaining earth that gives coastal Andhra its agricultural backbone. Irrigation arrives via the Nagarjuna Sagar Right Canal — also known as the Jawahar Canal — a 203-km lifeline that waters a command area of 4,520 km². The climate is classically tropical: hot summers, monsoon rains, and mild winters that ripen cotton bolls and chilli pods alike.

Heritage & belonging.

Kurichedu is rooted in Telugu tradition — its festivals, food, and rhythm of life shaped by the seasons of cotton and chilli harvests. The land remembers older names: Satavahanas, Ikshvakus, Vijayanagara, the British Raj. Each layer left a temple, a road, an irrigation line, a railway siding.

Sri Tripurantakeswara Swamy Temple
